Hi Andrew, we have taken lots of school aged children on the track. The main problem our staff have faced is their mental abillity to continue when they hit the wall. Some children just want to give up and throw down their backpacks and refuse to carry them any longer. I have quite a few photographs of our porters doubling a pack on their back…[Read more]

Group have just arrived at Orohaven. If you click on the GPS trek trakka, it will come up as Kokoda Airstrip. This is because Orohaven Kokoda Retreat is situated adjacent to the the Kokoda Airstrip so it is 100% correct! Congratulations Andrew, Kingsley informed me you took your trek seriously and were fit and ready for your walk across the track.…[Read more]

Trek 753 called in from Maguli Range about 1pm saying they were all ok and were heading to Naoro for the night. Turned out as planned last night they stayed at Iorabaiwa Village and not Ofi Creek.Looking_back_at_Naoro_from___640x480_.jpg

By the time we arrived at Owers' Corner it was pelting down with rain so no more photo opportunities. Due to the heavy rain the plan was changed from walking down to Goldie and possibly spending the night at Owers' and getting a head start in the morning. Will no doubt hear by telephone tomorrow what they ended up doing. At the time Andrew was…[Read more]

On the way to the drop off point we stopped at McDonald's Corner. About this time it started to rain and I snapped this pic shortly before Andrew climbed back inside the vehicle. Whilst stopped the boys got the backpacks off the roof before they ended up drenched and put them inside the troopy. P1000184__800x600_.jpg

Hi Jonas, I do not know where you live or if there are any hills close by but a tip from a trekker who has walked several times with us is as follows:Find the closest, steepest hill to where you live. Drive there regularly after or before work, park your car, put on your backpack and start walking up and down as many times as you can building up…[Read more]

Hi Jonas, exciting times ahead for you. Mate you can get right into the whole exercise regime – full blown programs and the like. That's not really my go, I was 34 when I did the trek and when I did it I found what worked for me was:- I got into a little bit of jogging (40min type jogs in a lunch break a couple of times a week). It's pretty hilly…[Read more]

Trekkers were at Isurava Memorial about to head down to Deniki for the night when Andrew called me from the track. Andrew said him and the boys have thoroughly enjoyed their company and it will go down as one of his top favourite treks! How is that for an endorsement of how their trek has gone so far. He said some of the guys wanted to pull out…[Read more]

Have not heard from the track but by today they should be heading towards Eora Creek to spend the night. If all went according to plan they would have been at 1900/Myola Junction last night.

Spoke to Andrew today and it seems they stopped early at 'Goodwater' campsite instead of pushing on to Ua'Ule Creek on the first day. Yesterday was a long day as they walked through to Ofi Creek where they spent the night. As for tonight, plan a) was to reach Menari. Plan b) was to spend the night at Agulogo. Have not heard anything to the contrary so am assuming thats where they stopped for the night.265223_10150304914230971_374403025970_9916251_2987531_o__640x480_.jpg271368_10150304925030971_374403025970_9916375_7111050_o__640x480_.jpg

On this trek they have Andrew Yauga as their guide. Andrew was one of our most popular guides who has not been walking with us for quite awhile. We welcome him with open arms as he was always popular with our trekkers and its great to see him on the track again wearing our uniforms. Andrew also came 2nd in our Kokoda Challenge Race this year so…[Read more]
