Trek 378 headed out from Owers' Corner yesterday as planned but due to the condition of the road ended up having to walk from the last village before the archway which would have added another hour or so onto their trek. We did not hear from them last night so assume they were down at Goldie River area as per a report given to us last night at the Gateway by a porter who passed them on the track.

Before they went to Owers' Corner trekkers were driven out to Bomana War Cemetery.

Photographs taken at the drop off point. On the way back our truck got stuck for several hours due to a truck bogged that blocked the road and despite a pick up at 7:30am they did not arrive back at our base until 6pm last night as they too got bogged near McDonald's Corner much later in the day after someone had rescued the previous bogged vehicle. All fun and games on this road which gives us tour operators a lot of worry come trek time especially in the wet:

Update 17th April: Sailas their guide radioed in from Ioribaiwa Village late this afternoon saying they had reached there and decided to call it quits for the day and would therefore spend the night in the village.

When they left yesterday morning one trekker picked up Ken's pack and made a remark as to how heavy it felt. Turns out Ken might be thinking the same thing today as it was him who suggested to stay there tonight instead of pushing down to Ofi Creek. We joked at the briefing that twice in the same direction from Kokoda to Owers' that after he completes one in the opposite direction, that he might come back in and tell us which way he felt was the hardest way so will wait till the end to hear his verdict.

It seems all trekkers are doing just fine and enjoying their walk.

The first night they spent at Goldie River due to weather and rain. Tomorrow should be a tough day as they head past Naoro and down to the swamp area near Menari.

Update 26th April: My apologies for no updates of late as I have been flat strap with all the Anzac trekkers coming and going on and off the track.

Thanks trek 378 for choosing Kokoda Trekking.
