Trekkers were then dropped off at Owers' Corner around 11am. Our guide Paul Esiko radioed in this afternoon to say they had decided to stay the night at Goodwater Campsite (Uberi).

Three of our porters were moving towards Owers' Corner and took these photographs for us on the way past.

Update 21st March: Paul Esiko radioed in today saying they were all having a great time and that they all send their regards to friends and family back home.

Apparently they passed through Naoro and headed to a campsite next to a river. This morning they walked through the village of Menari and headed to Efogi where they will overnight.

We also have another group heading into Efogi today so they will have the chance to catch up with another group of trekkers heading in the opposite direction. No doubt they will be comparing the terrain on each side of Efogi to see whats ahead of each group.

Tomorrow they will head down to Myola Junction where they will more than likely run into another of our groups that left Kokoda on the 19th heading their way.

Update 22nd March: Trekkers were on the move again this morning this time heading for Myola Juncation 1900 Campsite where they will run into another of our treks heading in the opposite direction.

When they called in all they wanted to know was the AFL footy score!

Last night I heard from the group by sat phone and spoke to Roger and Michael. Some now would like to head down to Gona/Buna area as the road has been re-opened and this is now an option rather than spending time here in Port Moresby. They also have 5 boys from Gona on their trek who will no doubt enjoy showing them their backyard that was once quite nice but more recently destroyed by Cyclone Guba late November.

Trekkers are now at Eora Creek and are now on the home run as they would have seen Kokoda today from the Kokoda Gap. The boy will start to get excited knowing they will soon be on Kokoda soil and that they will achieve their goal of getting their trekkers safely to Kokoda.

Tomorrow they will work their way up to Alola which is a steep climb before heading down to Isurava Monument area followed by Isurava Village where they will spend the night.

    Everyone is still going ok.

When they walk around the corner from Alola and head down into Isurava they will be welcomed by the following sight which is just awesome. This is one of the reasons its good to walk from Owers' Corner to Kokoda as its more of an impact walking into this area as you are nearing the finish line rather than just starting out on day 2.

Update 24th March: Trekkers reached Kokoda round midday today and by all accounts per a radio conversation with Michael around 5:30pm they all enjoyed their day and were relaxing with a few beers at our block in Kokoda.

They said they had a rather easy walk down from Isurava to Kokoda and that they were welcomed by a sing sing on their arrival at the block.

Tomorrow 8 will fly back into Port Moresby and 5 will continue down by road to Popondetta then out to Gona where they will overnight.

    Photographs:

Pic 1: Not too sure whether this was the group that performed but if not it would have been something similar
Pic 2: Where they will sleep tonight inside one of our traditional huts on our block in Kokoda
Pic 3: Work in progress on our block in Kokoda where they are based today. Our truck KTL 1 in the foreground which will drive them down as far as Kumusi Bridge tomorrow. Another truck will be hired from the Popondetta end to take them from Kumusi to Popondetta and out to Gona.

Update 3rd April: We would like to thank Roger firstly for choosing us as their preferred trekking company. Also to the other members of his team, thanks for coming and walking with us.

After meeting up with the initial group of 8 when they returned from Kokoda they all appeared to have had a great time.

Then last Saturday catching up with the break away group that headed down to Gona was another thrill as they too told me their stories of what the others in the group missed out on.

From all of us here at KTL, thanks for coming and walking with us as from all accounts the boys loved their walk with you all and we as management enjoyed meeting you all.
