We welcomed back to PNG two guys who trekked with us during the big wet of 2004 Anzac treks. This morning they were recalling back to where they had to commence their trek which was at the Sogeri High School as the few days before their trek, it rained and rained causing us not to be able to drive on the road and they were forced to walk an extra 3 hours.

All trekkers seem to know each other well and were joking amongst themselves as they drove out to Bomana War Cemetery and then onto Sogeri with us.

Their guide is Harold and he too was quite excited as its his first trek of the season and him and his boys are really looking forward to their first trek.

Trekkers seen here at the Sogeri Monument area around 10:30am 16th April, 2007.

Have heard from our guide Harold this morning that trekkers slept at Uberi last night and they moved early this morning. They are heading for Ofi Creek where they will spend the night. Will keep you updated if we hear further. All trekkers are doing just fine.

Update 18th April, 2007: They spent the night at Ua'Ule Creek along with our other trek and this morning they commenced walking and ran into another of our treks which was heading towards Ower's Corner.

They plan to spend the night at Nauro.

Update 22nd April: Trekkers are doing just fine and were hot on the heels of our other trek that left a few hours ahead of them the day they departed Ower's Corner.

One girl found it hard to carry her pack and I believe our guide is now carrying it. Plus others had distributed a lot of their gear around our food porters.

Hence, it seems to be a team effort going on out there but all is progressing well and trekkers are on target to reach Kokoda tomorrow sometime where they will overnight.

Today they should have reached the Isurava Battlesite Monument area but we did not hear from their guide Harold to confirm this. The past few days they have been down low so its heard to get radio coverage.

Trekkers will then move down to Rusty's Kokoda family block where they will receive a typical Oro province welcome.
