Last night I met up with our latest group of trekkers who headed out to Popondetta today, a father and two sons:

    Tom, John and Charlie Nairn

This afternoon they arrived in Gona where they will stay the night as guests of my business partners Uncle and his family.

Earlier today a dinghy was hired to take them to Buna and Sanananda. Tomorrow they will make their way up to Kokoda where they will be guests of Russell's family.

Update 9th October: Trekkers are now in Kokoda having arrived there around 11am this morning. No doubt they will be having a look around Kokoda, followed by a cool dip in a creek before eating a home cooked meal for dinner.

Tomorrow they will be up bright and early for their walk up to Isurava Village where they will spend the night.

Update 10th October: As planned our trekkers spent the night at Isurava Village and today have moved off to Isurava Monument area. Later in the morning they will walk up to the village of Alola and then onto Eora Creek where they will spend the night. This may change as it will depend on how they are going.

The message from Tom ws that they were doing fine and being treated like 'Royalty' – and so far so good!

Update 13th October: Our guide radioed in today from Kagi saying they spent last night at 1900 and moved out first light this morning. After a stopover in Kagi they were going to head down to Efogi the half way point where they plan to stay tonight.

The young guys are find it ok but I think Dad is doing it tough and is looking forward to his 70th Birthday in the near future!

Our guide found out his birthday was coming up and the message for me today was to purchase a birthday card in advance of them coming in off the track.

I am sure when he is finished he will have achieved his goal of walking the track and what a better way to do it with his two sons along for the journey. I bet he never forgets his walk on the track and no doubt the sons won't either!

Many thanks, Gail, for the updates to the website for our menfolk's trek. It's great to get some information about their progress each day and we've been following on the lift out map from the Kokoda book. If you get the chance, give them a 'hooroo' from the folks back home and tell John to get a move on!

A message to the Nairn Clan , well done on reaching this point on your trip, we are all looking forward to hearing all about it back home. Its great to be able to follow your progress . I have emailed the link to all who enquire about your trip so they can see what you are all up to.

Good on you John for your efforts on the trail, I am sure the boys are feeling the pinch just as much as you , but because they are half your age they just won't admit it. tongue.gif

Well done to you all so far.

    Love Julie and Emily N

Update Tuesday 16th October: Have just spoken to our guide and John from Imita Ridge so they are on target to walk off the track tomorrow around 9:30am at Owers' Corner. I asked him how he was going and he said he didn't think he could say it over the radio…haha

He sends his love and said they will catch up with you all when they arrive back in Port Moresby.

Update 17th October: Trekkers came up at Owers' Corner faster than expected this morning and were there by 8:30am. As they were earlier than the expected 9:30 pickup time I asked Johnsford their guide to please inform them to be patient as its quite a distance to travel and that we would be there as fast as we could.

Our troopcarrier took off first and not long after the Toyota Prado followed.

The troopcarrier picked the trekkers up and we caught up with them a few km from Owers' Corner where we stopped and trekkers and porters shared a cool drink and some buns (the first bread of any sorts in days) which they got stuck into.
