KOKODA PRIMARY SCHOOL SAYS THANK YOU VERY MUCH:

In December this year I was contacted by an ex trekker saying he had some teacher resource books which he would like to donate to the Kokoda Primary School.

I agreed and gave out my address as to where they could be delivered. One morning not long after, a double cab arrived at my home in Australia with boxes and boxes of donations for the school.

Its been a long journey as they were stored in my garage until our food ration packs were ready for shipment and were packed in the same shipping container. Once here in PNG, we then had the problem of clearing them through customs but we managed everything and finally took possession about two weeks ago.

Then the next hurdle as to how we were going to transport them to Kokoda. We ended up having them consiged with Airlines of PNG as freight. As there was well over 1000 kgs Airlines of PNG could not find space to send them to Kokoda.

When the Anzac treks were on, Adventure Kokoda had a number of empty chartered flights heading into Kokoda and Warren Bartlett offered to transport them free of charge on one of the flights.

This week Russell Eroro delivered them to the Kokoda Primary School and all teachers were delighted at what they received.

    SPECIAL REQUESTS:

    1. Lawnmower: The school at present is very much in need of a lawnmower. Students have all this time maintained the grounds at their utmost best with short grassknives. They would greatly appreciate the donation of a lawnmower.

Please Note: (Refer footnote and photograph below, ourselves – Kokoda Trekking (KTL) have purchased and handed over early June a lawnmower for their use.

    2. Portable Generator

    3. Photocopier & Paper

    4. Computer, Printer & Paper

The special requests are purposely to have teaching and learning for both students and teachers to be more convenient. Furthermore, this will enable the school to extract and print out quality teaching and learning materials for better academic results.

    3. House Paints/Silver Paints

This is to paint classrooms and teachers houses for a face lift. Silver paint is required to paint the rusting iron roofs in the institution.

Upon receipt of this letter received from the Kokoda Primary School, Kokoda Trekking Ltd decided to donate a lawn mower for their use.

The lawn mower was purchased from Brian Bell and sent down to Kokoda. Russell Eroro returned home a week or so back and handed over the lawn mower to teachers from the school who were very happy.
