MemberA father and son team, namely Colin and Fraser Thom are on their way out to Ower's Corner to commence their trek.
Last night we met up with them at the Gateway Hotel for a briefing. Colin said he had been training for a couple of months and was looking forward to the trek. Fraser, it seemed was walking as a training exercise for his 2nd Everest Base Camp trek coming up in a couple of weeks.
Apparently he walked once before over 8 days and had to turn back. His father took 18 days but he made it.
Both trekkers were pumped up and ready for the experience. They asked how come they were the only ones on their trek. Simply put not everyone thinks they can walk the track in 6 days! the majority think they need at least 8 and I have to agree…
Colin and Fraser Thom seen here at the Gateway Hotel on the 30th April. Both trekkers come from the Gold Coast. Fraser has just completed a masters degree at Bond Uni and seems to be looking forward to heading back to Sydney later this year:

MemberTrekkers arrived back in Port Moresby this morning around 7am and as I type this are at the airport waiting for their flight back to Australia afternoon around 3pm.
Both father and son who have walked Everest Base Camp said Kokoda is harder but has not altitude problems.
Colin becomes our oldest walker at 65 (66 in two weeks time) on a 6 day trek.
Well DONE Colin from all of us here at Kokoda Trekking (KTL)
