As a lot of people wonder what they will be eating each day on the track I have decided to point you in the right direction of where we purchase our 24 hour ration packs.

http://www.trekon.com.au or CLICK HERE to be taken to their website:

We purchase off them A, B & C packs and try and rotate them so you get a bit of variety in what you eat each day. The main meal is rice (prepared by our porters); plus whatever we can purchase from the villages such as sweet potato/greens and other vegetables they may have on offer; together with a back country dehydrated main meal. What you see here is what you eat from the time you get up of a morning until the evening meal.

There is a smaller bag inside the larger bag which contains, tea/coffee/hot chocolate etc

The best thing about using ration packs is that you all know well ahead how much you can eat each day to avoid running out of food by the end of the trek. Every morning or night, you are handed a 'new' ration pack. If you are carrying your own pack, you will need to carry one ration pack per day. If you hire a personal porter, it will be his job to carry this for you or you can put it in your day pack if you wish to nibble along the way.

If you have anything left over from the previous pack the following day, you can either give it to your guide/porters; hand it to someone who lives in a village; barter with others in your trek if you have a particular liking for say custard and you want to swap for beef jerkey. Whatever is leftover can also be handed to your guide or porters to eat.

On average most people say they cannot eat everything in their pack whereas others say they eat everything. Hence you packs are designed to satisfy everyone as much as we possibly can. According to ex army guys who have trekked with us, they say its much more filling than an army ration pack.

What you see in these packs are supplied by us. As we cannot possibly supply all diet needs, we suggest if you have a particular allergy to certain foods that you bring along a substitute. We can cater for vegetarians as people who live along the trail are mostly vegetarians, its other diet needs you may need to check on.
