Trekker, Angus Gemmell headed out on Sunday 31st July, just yesterday morning with two other porters, Tom and guide Tony Eavri to do a 8 day trek.
Angus and the 2 porters are now located up at Maguli Range taking a rest and soon after that will head on down to Nauro village, where the 3 men will camp for the night.
So far Angus is doing great, no reports of him struggling or facing problems, so that's good news.
More updates to be posted up later on.

MemberUpdate 8pm 1/08/05: Angus and our porters have made it to Nauro but seems he is struggling with a blister on his toe and sore knees.
The guys are encouraging him all the way but said it could slow them down a little. A day behind is our next group heading the same direction who could catch them if Angus struggles again tomorrow.
Good news for Tony his guide….tonight I received a phone call from Hans Allgayer who confirmed his trek with him on the 20th August this year. Hans and his team of 34 are do gooders and are walking to do maintenance along the trail. Their group will also fly in a dentist who will assist mainly this time round in the Gona & Buna area.
Hans himself said he is 70 and will be walking for his 12th time. Seems him and his group are associated with Rotary and have approval to do all kinds of things along the trail as well as in Kokoda itself.

After their night in New Nauro yesterday evening, the three men were up again this morning and ready for yet another day?s walk.
Tony just informed me on the two-way-radio that, Angus is fine, he's doing is best on the trail, only his experiencing pains on his knees when his going down hills, so that?s slowing him down, otherwise climbing up hill and straight tracks, he?s doing fantastic.
Their current location is Nauro Look-out or Menari Gap, taking a rest. Soon after that they will proceed on to Menari where they will camp for the night.
Weather looks fine at this time, it was cloudy along Nauro area, but has they were walking into Menari boarder, the sky was blue and the sun was up and looking radiant.

Angus, Tom and Tony are now up at Menari look-out point, and soon will be heading up to Brigade Hill where they will stop to have their lunch break and also enjoy the great scenery. And who knows the porter and guide will or might show Angus a couple of the places and hill names.
Brigade Hill is one of the many great spots that have a great view from the top; you see the entire hills and even other villages from a far distant, so yeah it is a beautiful spot and most trekkers love that particular area.
Although there was no rain yesterday where the 3 camped for the night it must have rained the previous night, which left the place wet, muddy and even slippery. It was a slow start as they had to go through some slippery ends or tracks, but they all managed to find their way out to a better spot. Weather is not looking fine, they are having shower at this time, so that definitely will make the ground even more slippery and muddy. But we?ll just have to wait and hear from them later on to see how well they head to their next destination.
Other then that, Angus is doing ok, with his porter Tom by his side helping and encouraging him through the way, Angus is doing even better. Well done Angus.
More to be posted up later on.

Tony just gave me call and inform me that they are now at Efogi look-out. While his still up at the top making the radio contact, Tom and Angus are slowly making there way down to Efogi 1, where they might spend the night or probably move on. It is said that all Efogi 1 guest houses are filled up with other trekkers, from other trekking company?s, and Tony is not sure whether or not there?s space for him and the other two to spend the night. If they are lucky they will spend the night there, but if not they will move on and camp in another village.
For now we?ll just have to wait and hear out for Tony?s next call to confirm, where they are spending the night.

Not more then 5 minutes ago I received a radio call from Tony, who informed me that, they are now up at Kokoda Gap. He said they spent the night at Myola Junction yesterday evening, and started early hours this morning, which saw them up at Kokoda Gap less then an hour or two later.
They are planning on spending the night at Iora creek and if they happen to do that, they get to share the same campsite with trekkers and porters of Trek 115, who just started their journey yesterday.
Although, Angus has come across or felt some pain on his knees, which is slowing him down a bit, his progress so far has been fabulous, he?s been doing really, really well.
His porter Tom as never left his side, his always there with him, supporting and helping him as they move from one location to another, so his been taken good care of, by Tom.Other then that, everything and everyone?s ok.

MemberLatest report on the trail;
The 3 men are now at Templeton?s Crossing 1 having lunch. They will soon move to Templeton?s Crossing 2, and then to their campsite Iora Creek, which will probably take them 4 hours or more if Angus knee problem slow them down, otherwise I?m sure they will make it there on time with no problem.
Angus only weakness is going down hills, he struggles coz he gets a lot of pain on his knees, and I know how it feels like, coz I didn?t like going down hills either, when I walked the trail last year. All in all now that they are heading to Iora creek, they'll be going down a lot of hills, which will slow Angus down, but I know Tom and Tony will do their bit to help him through.
From what I heard from Tony the guide, Tom is taking real good care of Angus, encouraging and helping him all through, and Angus is doing really, really well, so that?s terrific report.

MemberUpdate 5th August, 2005:
Angus spent tonight at Eora Creek along with two of our other treks. One of our guides by the name of Paulo was camped along with his trekkers who commenced walking from Ower's a day after Angus.
Also there was a trek led by another guide by the name of Glen who is walking towards Ower's Corner.
I am sure there would have been a lot of singing tonight when all the boys got together as they are always excited to meet up with each other.
