Trek 141: – Hi everyone, due to the Australian Defense Force Academy not getting picked up in Canberra in time for their flight out of Sydney the trekkers didnt make it to PNG last Monday hence not in time to catch their flight to Kokoda today.

Because we are based here in PNG, their panic quickly turned into relaxation when I told them we could send them in via a charter to Popondetta after they arrived on their Wednesday flight by charter and they would then be picked up in our truck (KTL1) and driven up to Kokoda where they would overnight at Rusty's Place.

    Trekkers are:

Warren Coaker; Nikolai Rofe; Ian Pullin; Rebecca Dyson; Claire Hill; Daid Horder; David Long; Meng Wang & SimonAshley-Bunn.

    Trek 100:

Earlier this morning we put on a flight direct to Kokoda trek 100 which comprised of four doctors. 1 pathologist; 1 Cardiac surgeon; 1 GP & orthapedic surgeon and other friends.

    Trekkers included:

Ian McIntosh; Hugh Counsell; John Counsell; John Atchison; OwenHarris; John Skelly & Jeff McPherson.

    Update 13th July, 2005

    Trek 100 & Trek 141
Both groups where at the top of Imita Ridge, when they gave me call. They started bright and early this morning, which saw them up at Imita, just a few minutes after that. Thought it was a tough and tiring climb, everyone did just great. All trekkers still going strong like usual and are all fine and well. Still no reports of anyone having problems, so that is even better.

They are all currently at Goldie River having lunch; while some trekkers are busy munching away, others are swimming and relaxing near the river, after the long walk.

Both groups will spend the night at Owers Corner tonight and will proceed on to Vesilogo tomorrow, where they will be met by, both Russell and Gail, in our bus (PNGBD 1) and truck (KTL 2).

All trekkers are happy and excited that they?ve finally come to the end of their trail, no doubt about that, they should be.

If their guides call me this afternoon and update me on their latest, then you will all definitely see the latest post up on the website. For now that?s about it, and we?ll just wait and hear from them.

Goldie River, look how calm it is….
