MemberThis morning we were up bright an early to pick up our latest five trekkers at 5:30am for a 6:00am departure.
On occasions Airlines of Papua New Guinea have told us to be there bright and early and trekkers have been still waiting around to after 10am to board their aircraft.
However today, all went like clockwork and the flight took off as planned with the exception of our cargo consigned last week. Sadly the cargo got left behind and as there was only one flight today, will have to wait to Wednesday's flight and try all over again.
I dont know about other operators but for us this is always a worry as our food has to get to Kokoda and only one airline has an RPT service and that is Airlines of PNG. The end result is like today, we are forced to send food with the trekkers to make sure they and the porters have enough to eat. Then the airline hits us with excess baggage instead of cargo rates which blows out the budget somewhat but we are left with no choice.
All trekkers looked very excited as they walked off towards the aircraft waiting to take them to Kokoda.
Just before they boarded I asked them to pose for a photograph outside the airline terminal building.

Apologies to viewers, due to the two-way-radio not transmitting well, I was not able to get in touch with this group, in the last two days; therefore I have not updated anything on the website to inform you on their progress and whereabouts. But I have today, so this time I will make it a must, to try get them on the two-way-radio everyday, and update you on their progress each day.
Trek 84
The group spent the first two nights at Isurava and Eora Creek, all trekkers did great during that time of their walk, there were no problems with any of the trekkers, none of them had difficulties, they all did great.Just a few minutes ago, I got a call from their assistant guide, Glen Hanson who said, their present location is Mt Bellamy, they will rest their for a bit, and then proceed to their next camp destination, Myola Junction. All trekkers and porters are well and all doing fine.
The weather looking good at their end, so that must really work well for the trekkers, for they seem to do really well so far.

Everyone?s ok, all still in good condition, they are now at Naduri heading down to Efogi 1. Tonight the group will spend the night there and proceed to their next destination tomorrow. The weather still looking ok, the sky is as blue as the sea and the suns up and bright.
Anthony Robertson (trekker) passes this message to his wife;
?Going well on the trek, haven?t broken an ankle. Should have got a porter though, but we?re all ok.?

The group just arrived at Efogi 1 (the halfway point). All trekkers are ok, having a great time and also enjoying each others company.Weather looking good, so is everything and everyone and very much looking forward for their next days walk.
One trekker, Anthony Robertson misses his ?Port? and can?t stop talking about it and all the other trekkers and porters are joking about it, telling him, "we're not that far mate, we're almost to the end, you'll have one when you get back."

Trek 100
After spending the night at Efogi 1 yesterday, the group headed out for an early start this morning. All trekkers ok and doing fine.Their current location; Brigade Hill heading to Menari.
Trek 141
This group also spent the night at Efogi 1, likewise everything going good, everyone?s ok and doing fine.
They too are now at Brigade Hill, heading down to Menari. Whether or not they continue or camp there for the night, is up to them to decide, we?ll just have to wait and hear from them.11/07/2005 at 4:28 am #95536Jessie Garap

This group has now come to the end of their Kokoda Trail journey and will come out today. From what I heard from their assistant guide, Glen Hensen, all 5 trekkers did extremely well. There were no problems, no one was facing or having difficulties along the way, they all did great up until today, which is a great report. The group will meet up with Russell and Gail, who drove up this morning with our KTL 2 truck to pick them up at Owers Corner.
*****Congratulations To You All*****

I'm sure they will have a lot to talk about or stories to tell when they get back.
