Trek 81: This group are currently running a day behind schedule due to one trekker Lynne Gilbert being airlifted off the trail today at Va'Ule Creek due to exhaustion/fatigue. Lynn has now been released from hospital and spoke to me tonight from the Gateway Hotel where she will rest before flying home tomorrow.

Russell Eroro has made up a plan for the group to catch up time and they still should end up in Kokoda as per schedule. Murray Jones will fly into Kagi tomorrow and catch up with his group of trekkers following the Blue Sky Foundation Trek.

Trek 73:This trek is going really well and no problems whatsoever so far. Although taking off a day later they have now caught up with Trek 81 and both treks are spending the night at Nauro Village.

    As of 3:35pm today

TREK 81: We got a call from Murray Jones group confirming they are taking the last climb up to Brigade Hill. The guys took time to cool off at the creek at the foot of Brigade before taking their uphill walk. No reports of injuries, everyone are reportedly doing fine.

The group caught up with Trek 73 – Keith Greenwood's group who is currently heading for Menari.

TREK 83: This group confirmed their present location was at Menari where they are likely to catch up with the other two groups and camp for the night. Weather seems fine out there, mostly dry throughout and the trek seems to be going well.

All seemed well for the day with the trekkers doing well. By the end of today everyone should arrive at the camping sites, tired and exhausted and wanting to rest and getting ready yet for another day of trekking tommorow.

    Update 6th May, 2005:

    Trek 73 – Keith Greenwood?s group.

The group, left Russell?s family block in Kokoda yesterday morning, and were driven up to Gona and others parts of the area, by the KTL 1 boy?s and the group?s guide John Eroro, Russell?s brother, to have a look around. They not only looked around at the place and visited the monuments, but they even got a taste of the beach as well, they went swimming and quite enjoyed it.

Anyway, the trekkers then decided to spend the night at the Lamington Hotel in Popondetta, which they did and are now, waiting for their plane at Giruwa airstrip. All trekkers are ok and everyone?s fine.
