We want to book on a trip in September 2005, and are not sure on flight tfrs to connect back when flying home. If the treck ends on the 26th Sep 2005 in Kokoda, would it be possible be back in Port Moresby to catch a flight early morning on the 27th Sept for our return home?

    Would someone please help us?????

Hi Robert, the answer is no as the only time Airlines of PNG fly into Kokoda is on Wednesday's and Sunday's. You would have to travel down to Popondetta the following morning on our truck and catch a flight out from there as they have daily flights.

Be prepared for an early morning rise however as our truck leaves Kokoda at 3:30am and it takes around 3 hours thats without flat tyres, picking up and dropping off passengers etc to get to Popondetta. All going well you could catch the morning flight back into Port Moresby and fly out in the afternoon if there is a flight on that day.

Check with your travel agent as they can ticket you all the way back from Popondetta to Australia. If you are trekking with a tour company such as us, your ticket Popondetta/Port Moresby would be included in your trek price. If you are trying to do it on the cheap you would have to book like I said through a travel agent.

    Email: nathalieg@budgettravel.com.au

for further information and let her know kokoda trekking sent you.

By the way, two options with our truck….hire it completely or jump on with everyone else and have the experience of a lifetime!

Photograph: Two of the longest walkers of the Kokoda Trail, L to R – Osborne (over 300) & Russell (287), having only walked it once, I think both these guys deserve medals for looking after tourists for many many years. The are both seen here with two of their own guides and Steve on his 1st PNG adventure.
