MemberJim Kerwin & his daughter Hollie get a taste of the Kokoda Trail
Are you bored, live in Port Moresby and wonder what you can do for a two day break? Why not take a leaf out of Jim Kerwin's book who contacted me saying his daughter was up for a visit and wanted a taste of the Kokoda Trail. Jim asked to meet with me to see if this could be achieved during her stay here and the days he would be available. Jim and his daughter Hollie were trying to choose between the Bat Caves or a Kokoda experience.
They decided on Kokoda and our Sogeri guide Eric Uwea to walk with them from Veselugo to Ua'Ule Creek and back. Hollie thought she had what it took and felt fit to take on this challenge. The trek was organised for the 7th & 8th December with Jim driving his vehicle up to Veselugo to commence their trek. Eric overnighted at their home and they got away to an early start at 5am.
At Veselugo they met up with Eric's cousin Noel Geata who accompanied them. When I phoned them on their return I had both Jim & Hollie online and they were quite excited as they portrayed to me their short trek out and back. They had a great time but said they are not quite ready to take on Kokoda as yet.
