This morning we left our base in Port Moresby to head up to Sogeri Lodge to pick up our latest group of excited trekkers. Trekkers in this group include :
-
[*]Peter Beckhouse
[*]Matthew Beckhouse
[*]Daryl Burrell
[*]Bryce Livermore
[*]Mitchell Pennant
[*]Sophie Hogarth
[*]Stuart IrelandTrek 814 is made up of a group of 3 mates; a father and son and two sweethearts on a hot date! We all wondered today if the Kokoda Track is a place to have a date, but hey they looked pretty happy today as they prepared to move out to Owers' Corner.

MemberAt Owers' Corner trekkers who hired personal porters were introduced to each other and at that point they were pointed towards the backpacks they would carry for the next 7 nights 8 days on the track.

MemberTrekkers seen here during a briefing before they headed off down their first descent towards Goldie River. I think they were all in awe of the hills that lay ahead of them but have to say they were all looking pretty excited to be on the track and about to take on the adventure of a lifetime.

MemberTrekkers are now at Agulogo for the night. Eric Uwea called up earlier today and said they were all going great, were fit and that they were making good time. Just picture them climbing this hill today, tough day – Maguli Range!

MemberReceived a sat phone call around 7:30pm to say the group are now at the half way point of Efogi where they will enjoy a night on mattresses! I was informed everyone was doing just great and no problems whatsoever at this stage. Picture them today as they walked up the hill commonly referred to as 'the wall' just before Efogi, South to North! I am sure a lot of our ex trekkers will relate to this, anyone?
Today they would have crossed a river, walked through Menari, climbed up Brigade Hill all before heading down to Efogi. Another tough day!
