MemberTWENTY Students from the Port Moresby International School, alias POMIS, successfully completed their trek today, September 22nd.
The group of students arrived at Vesulogo this morning, exhausted after the 9 days of walking and 8 nights camping out on the Kokoda Trail.

MemberCongratulations to many who have put effort in walking the track. You all have achieved something and that you should be proud of always.
For those who have not walked yet and are thinking of doing so, the experience will really bring out something in you as it did to me and countless others and I believe that the students who have just completed the trek will have something to tell their friends in school about and in doing so they will always be proud of themselves.

MemberCurrently we have three groups of trekkers out on the trail. Tomorrow another group will turn up and this will be the last group for the month of September.
We have the group of friends from Kangaroobie, Princetown, Victoria. This is the largest group numbering up to 37 trekkers. Three trekkers also left left on the 18th with Eric from Ower's Corner and are expected back on a charter this coming Sunday when our remaining porters return home.
Today also, whilst picking up the students we dropped off 15 trekkers who will Trek from Ower's Corner Wednesday and finish in Popondetta 30th September, 2004.
This trek was originally supposed to fly into Popondetta and walk back to Ower's Corner, however due to Air Niugini's cancelled flight from Cairns on the 21st September we were forced to reschedule and walk the opposite direction:

MemberPRESENTIATION OF THE CERTIFICATES
On Wednesday night the all of the sutdents who walked the Kokoda Trail received their certificates of Acheivement together with trek leader and lecturer David Lucas.
IT was celebration time at Gateway and although they could not afford a glass of beer as it was prohibited – they were happy to get together with porters/guides and friends and school mates to celebrate.
