Hi Gail,
Just wondering what the response has been like to all the appeals? Now that it is a little way on and the Government aid has reached the people needed, it there anything that you find that they need in particular that may be a little short? Have you heard from the Kokoda foundation re their appeal?
and I was wondering how they are all going up there, we hear very little.Cheers

Hi there, I was away in Australia until yesterday for a few days but returned with over $200.00 worth of excess baggage destined for Kokoda today on an 'Adventure Kokoda Charter' so a couple of boxes of donations heading out.
Went into Boroko Foodword supermarket yesterday and there was a box put aside with posters all over the place asking for donations.
On arrival there was a lot of activity at the airport with a whole bunch of army guys and a Caribou obviously being loaded with stuff about to head out to the Oro Province.
The local papers are still showing items about the ORO PROVINCE with today's National headline:

Our employee by the name of Dickson phoned up by sat phone today and said trade stores there hired a plane and bought in supplies for their stores but the cost naturally is higher. A 10 kg bag of rice is now K20.00 which is to be expected as airfreight is expensive.
So yes, all still happening here with help coming from all corners such as 'Nestle'; 'Papinda' and other major shops along with Ausaid etc.
Have just spoken to a lady at the Australian High Commission and she said they were getting a good response and that the 'National Disaster AusAid/Australian Def. Force were co-ordinating everything to make sure it got to the people who needed it most.
