    Date: 15 October 2012 – 23 October 2012

arrived in PNG after 6pm and was driven up to Sogeri Lodge where he spent the night. This morning he was picked up and driven out to Owers' Corner for the commencement of his trek.

On the way, they stopped at McDonald's Corner:

Before they headed off down the hill towards Goldie River, they had a group photograph taken. Walking as the food porter on this trek is Gary Joheri.

Gary would be eager to return home as he has been invited by trekkers who walked a couple of weeks ago to spend some time in Australia and has been in Port Moresby since then trying to obtain a birth certificate and kick start his passport application.

It was almost 6am when my phone rang to report on their trek. Cyprian sounded really happy and excited as he handed the phone to Richard. Turns out it rained quite heavily late yesterday and throughout the night. Apparently the group have been going well and looking forward to today as they walk up Maguli Range and head to Agulogo for the night. Richard also came across as really happy so I think this is going to be a fun trek as they all walk together towards the finish line. Imagine them walking through Naoro later on today.

Last night was spent at Ioribaiwa.

This trek spent the night at Efogi the half way point. Today they will head off to Naduri but may push on to 1900/Myola Junction instead. Will wait until I hear from the Cyprian as they move towards the finish line in Kokoda.

Cyprian phoned in to say they have reached 1900/Myola Junction where they are going to stop for the night. Tomorrow they will head down to Eora Creek. Cyprian once again sounded happy as he knows the finish line is in sight and very soon they will be on Kokoda soil.

This trek reached Eora Creek around 3pm this afternoon. Tomorrow they plan to head to Isurava Village for the night. No doubt by now Richard is pumped up knowing he is about to successfully complete his trek.

Received a phone call at 10:20am to say they have reached Isurava Memorial. A change of plan, they have made good time so have now decided to head down to Deniki for the night before walking off the track tomorrow.

Just received a message at 4:20pm to say the group have reached Hoi where they are spending the night so they have pushed on further than they stated earlier this morning. Tomorrow they should reach Kokoda around 9am.

Apparently Richard is looking forward to walking off and it was his idea to move further down and not stop at Deniki.

Congratulations to Richard as this morning around 8:30 he walked off the track into Kokoda. He is now at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat. Well done Richard from all of us here at Kokoda Trekking.

Imagine Richard as he would have walked through the archway this morning.
