Our very first trekkers, Geoff and Daniel Trott, last Saturday put a permanent SMILE on the face of their guide Eric Uwea.
Such a small gesture but one Eric will remember for the rest of his life.
In the mail last week I received a rather large copy of a photograph Geoff took copy of which appears below.
I sent out a message for Eric to come and see me coz I had something for him. On Saturday when he turned up, he loved what he saw….so much so….he couldnt take it home coz it might get touched and damaged.
So I offered to have it framed for him so he can put it on his wall for the whole of SOGERI to look at for many years to come.
You see, many trekkers come and trek…take lots of pics, but very few of them ever find their way back home to the fuzzy wuzzy angels of the Kokoda Trail 2003, your guide and porters !
If any of our trekkers send me photographs they have taken, I guarantee you….they will find their way to the respective guide and porters that looked after you on the Kokoda Track.
Eric_Uwea500.jpgOn Saturday, it gave me great pleasure to handover a beautifully framed photograph to one of our guides on the Kokoda Trail.
His name is Eric Uwea and the smile on his face says it all !
The previous Saturday he came to my home and I handed him a larger than normal photograph of himself which was sent to me by Geoff and Daniel Trott our Anzac 2003 trekkers.
He said he couldnt take it home because it would get wrecked by people touching and looking at it. I then suggested that I have it framed for him.
During the week it was framed and as planned Eric turned up on Saturday to collect his photograph.
A photo tells a thousand words, just look at his FACE ! Eric is absolutely thrilled and send to send a BIG THANK YOU to Geoff and Daniel for taking the time to firstly take his photograph, and secondly for sending it to him.
Editors Note: Well done Geoff and Daniel Trott, you have certainly been a big hit with your guide and him and others in Sogeri will never forget your kindness. Sincere thanks.
