The expanding National Carrier of Papua New Guinea, Air Niugini, is planning to repaint one of its Boeing 767 aircraft in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the heroic activities of the Australian soldiers who fought along the Kokoda trail during the second world war and its recent emergence as one the world's most iconic adventure treks. The aircraft will be repainted to show a stylised map of the Kokoda Trail in order to create new awareness of the role of trail and its position in the forefront of adventure tourism to PNG.

Air Niugini currently operate international services to Hong Kong,Singapore, Manlla, the Solomon Islands capital (Honiara) and Fiji plus Sydney, Cairns and Brisbane in Australia. Domestically Air Niugini fly to 21 airports including its main base in Port Moresby.

Adventure tourism is growing rapidly to PNG, which is fast becoming one of the world's must visit places due to its amazing landscapes and unique tribal cultures.
