This morning when we drove down the last hill leading towards the bottom of Owers' Corner we were met with a strange sight when we noticed that a bus must have skidded off the road recently. It was sitting down the hill at the back of the police house area looking back towards the road. Have no idea how and when it got there, but certainly grabbed our eye as we drove into Owers' Corner.

After our trekkers had headed off down the hill towards Goldie River, I went and took some photographs which I will post here now.

Right at the bottom of that road its quite slippery when wet just like it used to be all over the previous road before they graded and put stones on the road. Now even the stones themselves can cause an accident if you were to get into a skid. Several weeks ago one trekking company's hired bus did exactly that, skidded off the road. No-one was hurt but for people not experienced driving on this kind of road or who have tyres that need to be replaced could easily slip off.

In fact what used to be a wet slippery 4WD road and a slow trip to or from Owers' is now turning into an easy drive trip. It now resembles a super highway (well ok not quite) but compared to what we have been used to, a huge improvement! Thanks Australia for this JV with the PNG Government to fix the road.

When of WHEN, will you approve fixing the road from KOKODA to POPONDETTA ?????
