Trek 580 left Owers' Corner earlier today after being picked up from the Gateway Hotel around 7:30am this morning. On the way out to Owers' trekkers were taken to the Bomana War Cemetery before heading for the drop off point for their walk. At Owers' Corner, I looked at my watch and it was 9:30 as they walked off down their first descent towards Goldie River. Their guide for this trek is Cyprian Haera.

This trek is unique for us as to the best of my knowledge, we have our two first set of twins walking the trek. Alan and Chris Vincent are two young 18 year olds walking with their Uncle, Matt Carter. Matt said at Owers' Corner, that he has waited two years to walk for them to be able to walk with him. Their sister and mother are also in PNG seeing other parts of the country while the guys walk the track.
