Boss Meri
MemberThe first ANZAC DAY service at Kokoda on the 25th April 2008 was a big success thanks to Wallace (Soc) Kienzle who planned and put on the service.
We at Kokoda Trekking feel this service will grow as more and more people realise its going to be held each year and that Soc is passionate about it.
Soc who grew up in Kokoda and who still refers to Kokoda as home, got great delight in explaining in detail the history that surrounded the Kokoda Station and how the Japanese soldiers fought the Australian's and from what directions they came.
It was also the first time in 41 years that his father Bert Kienzle's flag was raised. He also flew a young man from Tenterfield who is schooling at Scots College to play the bag pipes at the dawn service.
All in all a big success and one we hope will continue for years to come.
