Nine management committee members of the Kokoda Track Authority have been sworn in.

The committee will be responsible for providing regular reports on performances and implementation of projects along the Kokoda Track.

Members sworn in by Magistrate Hubert Sareke represented areas along the trail.

They are:

• Garry Imiri (Koiari Rural LLG)
• Alfred Amuli (Kokoda Rural LLG)
• Norris James (Koiari Landowners)
• David Sori (Kokoda Landowners)
• Tony Abavu (Kairuku Hiri District)
• Kila Sobolo (Kokoda District)
• Jim Yomapisi (Tourism Promotional Authority)
• Michael Ekupu (National Cultural Commission)

The National Executive Council (NEC) approved the establishment of the authority on May 28, 2003. This was done after much negotiation, KTA Chairman Alfred Amuli said.

He said this was approved by International Government Relations Minister Sir Peter Barter.
