Last night saw us greet two separate groups back to Port Moresby following their successful treks.

One group trekked from Ower's to Kokoda and flew back into Port Moresby yesterday. The other group were picked up from Ower's Corner and taken to the Bomana War Cemetery on the way back to the Gateway Hotel.

    TREK UPDATES:

    TREK Date: 17 August 2004 – 25 August 2004

Queensland Police Tram made up of Peter Waugh, Luke O'Connor, Timothy Bosgra, Michael Condon, Gregory Wallace, Craig Baillie, Jeffrey Salter, Peter Murphy, Robert Mc Laughlin, Malcolm Mossop & Bradley Browning arrived back in town yesterday from Kokoda and we met up with them all last night at the Gateway Hotel, 25th August, 2004.

All trekkers remarked they felt they walked the best possible way by finishing up at Russell’s block at Kokoda where his family made them feel ‘very special’.

    TREK Date: 17 August 2004 – 25 August 2004

A very happy contented group of Army trekkers arrived back from Ower’s Corner yesterday. All toughed it out and carried their own packs.

Last night we caught up with them at the Gateway Hotel – trekkers – Brian Ardley, Gerry Bainrot, Jennifer Crombie, Karen Deane, Sue Harris, John Howlett, Michelle Jones, Barny Kristensen, Drew Martin, Peter Maw, Belinda Strid & Amy Taheny.

John Carroll had been earlier airlifted out of Efogi due to knee problems and was able to drive out to Ower’s Corner with the pick up vehicle and catch up with his mates. There were smiles all round and even though they did it tough, they all seemed to enjoy their experience.

    TREK Date: 18 August 2004 – 26 August 2004

Also five of the trekkers below broke away from their group and came back in with the Army trekkers yesterday. Am still waiting to confirm their names.

Have since been advised that Michael Ference, Sam Seymour, Cameron Maher, Peter Baker & Mark Eisentrager were the trekkers who arrived back yesterday instead of today.

All other trekkers are now safely back in Port Moresby today 26th August, 2004

David kappler; Shaun o'sullivan; Steve Laney; Glenn Winter; Russell Fry; Dot O'Flynn; Brian Goodes; Richard Fowles & Peter Hord
