MemberThis morning saw us bid farewell to our latest trek which consists of a brother and sister from Victoria. I had the pleasure of driving them around and they were both looking foward to the challenge of their trek as both are carrying their own backpacks.

MemberTrekkers were picked up from where they stayed around 9:30am and driven out to Bomana War Cemetery. I was supposed to return to Port Moresby to collect the boys walking on this trek who were booked to fly at 8am but their flight was suddenly delayed until 10am.
After they looked around Bomana, we drive back into town, collected the boys, loaded up the roof rack and drove out to Owers' Corner. At Owers' backpacks were rearranged to suit the boys likings (obviously the way I packed they did not agree with, lol) and everyone was soon ready to move off down the track.

MemberIt was soon time to bid farewell to this group and they left Owers' Cnr around 12:30 with the destination for today being Goodwater, approx 2 1/2 hours walk. Both their backpacks were weighted and came in around the 22kg mark. I cannot remember a time that a female carried that weight so more power to her if Nicole does not give up as they make their way along the track and she ends up hiring a personal porter. When I told her that, it made her more determined to carry her backpack all the way.
Its also our first time to have a triplet on a trek. Quite a few twins , but our first triplet. So a few firsts here already.

MemberSorry, have been travelling and now back in Australia.
This trek are spending the night at 1900/Myola Junction. Nicole and Chris are still carrying their heavy backpacks and refuse to handover any of the contents to our staff who are offering to help. Tomorrow plan
a) is to head to Alola and plan
b) is to stop at Eora Creek.
So far this trek have stopped at Agulogo & Efogi on previous nights

MemberThis team have now reached Alola Village for the night. Both trekkers continue to do well. The plan tomorrow is to give them a short day down to Deniki but they may decide to push on to Hoi. Apparently they experienced some rain at Eora Creek but apart from that, its been a dry trek.

MemberA short walk tomorrow will see this group walk under the archway at Kokoda as tonight they are in Kovelo Village. Gary sounded excited as he knows tomorrow him and trekkers and other KTL boys will celebrate another successful walk across the track. Picture them back home as like the trek that flew back to Port Moresby today seen in the left hand photograph below, make their way towards the archway.

MemberOn behalf of Kokoda Trekking, thanks for choosing to walk with us. A huge effort to you both especially Nicole as your backpacks were weighed at Owers' Corner at 23kg and you carried them all the way to Kokoda. Well done.
