Everyday for this group is going to be tough as they will only spend 4 nights on the track walking off on the 5th into Kokoda. Last night they were at Ioribaiwa Village and today down through Ofi Creek, up to Naoro and on to Menari for the night. Tomorrow the plan is to reach 1900/Myola Junction. Its a hot dry track. The guide on this trek is Wayne Urini Tihimi who loves the fast treks. Along with him are other porters who likewise take on the challenge such as Kingsley Boropi; Cyprian Are; Slimmy Sairo; Hobert Keke; Tony Ogonemi; Duggie Eroro and 2 guys walking at this pace for the first time, Rex Orosambo and Saku Idau.

Saku is the brother of the trek champion, Ramsy Idau and Rex is the brother of Sione Orosambo so if family is anything to go by, these two guys should nail a fast trek.

As per plan, trekkers have now reached 1900/Myola Junction where they are camped for the night. According to Wayne, its freezing there tonight and the boys as well as the trekkers are sitting around the campfire. Picture them tomorrow walking across the cane bridge below as they head for the finish line at Kokoda. Wayne added that they are really fast and thinks tomorrow night they should be able to reach Alola and walk off the track into Kokoda around 9am on the morning of the 18th.

Congratulations to this group of trekkers as they have not long walked off the track in Kokoda and at the moment are enjoying a few beers before making their way down to Orohaven Pija where they will spend the night. Well done everyone.
