MemberA group of 3 trekkers left this morning to head out to Owers' Corner for the commencement of their 5 night 6 day trek. Trekkers include : Sue Forsyth, Amber Jenkins and Jo Guy. The women are pictured on the steps of the Royal Papua Yacht Club where they went for a meal last night.

MemberThese girls are fast, no wonder they picked a 6 day trek. They commenced their walk at Owers' Corner yesterday morning around 7am and stopped for the night at Ofi Creek. Today the plan is to reach Agulogo for the night where they will run into our other group heading in the opposite direction. Ernst their guide is quite impressed with his group of 3 ladies. Go girls, you have impressed me as well. Most 6 day trekkers think reaching Ioribaiwa is a tough days hiking but you wanted to push further to Ofi. Ernst has walked well over a 100 times and would not have agreed if he did not think you were all fit enough. I posted the photo below as it shows the steepness of this area of the track around Ofi Creek.

MemberTurns out its a small world, as driving around Port Moresby, it seems Susan Forsyth and myself have something in common. We both worked for Deloitte's and not only that co-incidence, but she was recruited by David Murray. As for myself, David was the Managing Partner of Deloitte in Papua New Guinea and he too was my boss for many many years.
We both agreed, he is a top boss with heaps of experience and a really nice guy.

MemberReceived a phone call tonight to say this group did not stop at Agulogo but continued on to Menari. All going well and loving their time on the track. Most people are no further than Naoro at this point so they are still setting a fast pace.

MemberTrekkers have now reached 1900/Myola Junction. Ernst their guide called me earlier today to inform me they were all doing well and looking forward to another day on the track.

MemberThis morning they continued on with their trek and walked from Alola to Isurava Memorial. This area of the track where so much fighting happened during WWII, its always an emotional part of the walk.

MemberAround 11am they found themselves at Deniki and no doubt looked down towards Kokoda and knew they would soon walk off the track…well a few hours away.

MemberTrekkers were met by our staff and driven down to Orohaven Pija Retreat where they are presently eating pizza and no doubt thinking back over their experience of the past few days. I was told they had been for a swim in the creek so had time to cool off and clean up before their evening meal.
Tomorrow morning they will be driven from Pija to Girua airport for their flight back to Port Moresby.
Thank you for choosing to walk with us at Kokoda Trekking.
