On the 26th July a group of 3 ladies flew over to Popondetta to travel up to Kokoda by road. Unfortunately two of their backpacks failed to arrive as they got stuck in a conveyor belt at the airport and did not make it on the flight. Can you imagine for a minute their disappointment when they would have realised this knowing they were about to walk the Kokoda Track!
However, a quick phone call to Port Moresby and I was able to locate the missing backpacks and arranged for them to fly over with another airline later in the day. This however, meant the girls and our hired vehicle had to wait around for the flight which was then delayed. Eventually it turned up around 3ish and they then commenced their drive up to Kokoda.
Instead of the plan walk to Deniki, the girls found themselves sleeping in one of our huts at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat.
Trekkers in this group include :
-
[*]Katie Walsh
[*]Sarah Coxhead
[*]Diane O'DonaghoeThe following morning they commenced their walk and can be seen here under the Kokoda archway and at the Memorial grounds.

MemberTrekkers have made really good progress and I cannot believe where they days have gone. Their first night was spent at Orohaven; then Isurava; followed by Templeton's II. The next time saw them at Efogi, now Naoro tonight.
Today they called me and said they wanted to come out a day early on Wednesday not Thursday and spend two days relaxing at Loloata.
So as you can see these girls are doing really well.

MemberThe group had walked off early this morning and were heading towards Ofi Creek where they planned to stop for morning tea.
Later in the morning they will head down to Ua'Ule Creek and tomorrow their guide has estimated an arrival time at Owers' Corner the finish line around 11:30am.

MemberKatie Walsh, Sarah Coxhead and Diane O'Donaghoe walked off the Kokoda Track today at Owers' Corner. Later this afternoon I met up with them when they returned to Port Moresby and they looked and sounded really pleased with their trek.
Well done to all of you from us here at Kokoda Trekking. Thanks for choosing to walk with us.
