Early this morning trekkers were at the airport to board their flight to Popondetta in readiness to commence their walk across the Kokoda Trail.

After arriving in Kokoda, the group decided to move off today and headed off mid afternoon.

Their guide is Kingsley Boropi who phoned to say they reached Deniki where they are camped for the night. Trekkers on this trek include : Andrew Lusi; Jason Sharpe and Jason Nesci. Tomorrow they are aiming for Alola Village.

This trek has now reached Alola Village. According to Kingsley who phoned a few minutes ago, his trekkers and porters are ok. Last night a porter was requested so a guy by the name of Slimmy has now joined this trek carrying for Jason Nesci.

Both treks who flew over to Popondetta together are now camped together at an area commonly referred to as 'Dump 1' at the foot of Mt Bellamy the highest point on the track.

Tomorrow they should reach the half way point of Efogi. Earlier today they would have walked across the cane bridge in the photograph below:

This trek is going too fast as at this rate they will be off the track earlier than the original plan being the 7th August.

At the moment they are at Menari Village having passed the half way point earlier today followed by a tough climb up Brigade Hill. According to Kingsley who phoned this afternoon to give his daily report there is no stopping them as they wanted to continue.

I suggested to him they have a short day tomorrow and head to Ofi Creek for the night.

This trek has now reached Naoro Village where they are stopped for the night. Tomorrow they face Maguli Range.

According to reports off the track, trekkers and porters are doing well.

Congratulations are in order, as this group walked off the track today, 1 day ahead of schedule. I spoke to Jayson Sharpe a short time ago and he said they wanted to head into town and get themselves and their gear cleaned up before heading back home tomorrow.

Jason sounded excited and happy that they had completed their walk across the Kokoda Trail.

As I type this, our vehicle is heading up to Owers' Corner to pick them up as we were not prepared thinking they were coming off the track tomorrow as per plan.

Well done guys from all of us here at Kokoda Trekking.
