MemberWe welcomed to PNG today, Andrew Mason who is walking solo. Andrew said he tried his best to talk some of his friends into coming with him but they kept coming up with all kinds of excuses such as not fit enough and so on with the end result he is here to do it himself as this is the only time he can get away from work.
We drove out to Bomana War Cemetery and took the following photographs:

MemberOn the way to the drop off point we stopped at McDonald's Corner. About this time it started to rain and I snapped this pic shortly before Andrew climbed back inside the vehicle. Whilst stopped the boys got the backpacks off the roof before they ended up drenched and put them inside the troopy.

MemberBy the time we arrived at Owers' Corner it was pelting down with rain so no more photo opportunities. Due to the heavy rain the plan was changed from walking down to Goldie and possibly spending the night at Owers' and getting a head start in the morning. Will no doubt hear by telephone tomorrow what they ended up doing. At the time Andrew was dropped off it was 4pm.
The guy below is Andrew's personal porter Jenen Barai who was already on the job inside the vehicle getting his boots ready. The guy on the right is Eric Uwea who came for the ride along with his baby that he is nursing whilst talking to the wife assuring her he is ok

MemberUpdate 4th December: 9:05am and they are at Goldie River. Andrew said they walked down to Goldie River yesterday afternoon and spent the night next to the river which he said was great.
He said the guys were great cooks and last night he really enjoyed the meal they cooked. He was up at 5:30 and they started walking around an hour later.
Do not forget Andrew has with him a tracking device which is on his backpack. If you click on the following link you can follow him all the way to Kokoda. I have found if I enlarge two bars on the left hand side its much easier to follow as it spreads out the stars more. This is the first time we are using this device so Andrew is our guinea pig to see whether we will include it with all our treks:

MemberTrek 753 called in from Maguli Range about 1pm saying they were all ok and were heading to Naoro for the night. Turned out as planned last night they stayed at Iorabaiwa Village and not Ofi Creek.

MemberGroup have just arrived at Orohaven. If you click on the GPS trek trakka, it will come up as Kokoda Airstrip. This is because Orohaven Kokoda Retreat is situated adjacent to the the Kokoda Airstrip so it is 100% correct! Congratulations Andrew, Kingsley informed me you took your trek seriously and were fit and ready for your walk across the track. Well done from all of us here at Kokoda Trekking.
Andrew is now looking forward to meeting up with the family and their planned trip to China.
