Our first all Asian trek is now on the track walking from Owers' Corner to Kokoda and boy did they look happy. Yesterday when I met up with them at Jackson's airport, one poor guy was missing his backpack as it did not make the connection and was still in Australia. Can you imagine for a minute what that must have felt like.
However, as he took our advice and was wearing his boots and starting from this end, I instructed him that he proceed with the rest of his team and that his bag plays catch up with a runner we would engage to take it into him. Trekkers in this group include :

- Mark Hua
- Cameron HA
The photograph below was taken outside the Sogeri Lodge aroun 9:30am. The guy on the right is the one who lost his pack but he did not let it dampen his spirit and was smiling so wildly it reminded me why I run trekking tours, to see happy faces like these guys about to experience something that will stay with them forever:

IMGP0143__640x480_.JPGOn this trek all five blokes are carrying their own packs so our national staff were reduced but include another guide by the name of Kingsley Boropi. He can been seen here minutes before Harold spoke with their trekkers about what to expect from today's walk:

IMGP0142__640x480_.JPGToday there were several treks that headed out from Owers' Corner so our guides chose to stay at Goodwater rather then risk continuing on and not being able to secure a campsite. I spoke to Harold late this afternoon and he assured me all his trekkers did ok today.

IMGP1810__50____640x480_.JPGMid afternoon yesterday Cameron's backpack was walked into him by two Sogeri boys, 1 to carry the pack and the other for security. These guys spent the night with the trekkers and returned to Sogeri this morning. As a result one would assume Cameron has even more reason to SMILE

IMGP3492__640x480_.JPGTrekkers have reached Isurava Monument area and tomorrow they plan on being up bright and early to walk off the track in Kokoda and head down to Orohaven Kokoda Retreat.

At the moment they are tucking into pizza's at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat before getting up early for their drive down to Popondetta to catch their flight back to Port Moresby. Well done guys!
