Trek 698 got underway as planned but unfortunately due to not being able to log onto the internet I was unable to post photographs and updates. The first night as planned they reached Ua'Ule Creek. Last night was spent at Naoro Village and today they will either reach Menari or go further and stop at Efogi depending on how the trekkers are going.

Trekkers in this group walking with my son Shane Thomas are:

    • Derek Ingram
    • Drazen Gvozdich

Before driving off from Sogeri Lodge Drazen started his movie camera to capture the moment.

The photograph below was taken outside the Sogeri Lodge shortly before the drive out to the drop off point of Owers' Corner.

We stopped along the way at McDonalds Corner where they guys happily posed for another photograph:

We arrived at Owers' Corner and everyone jumped out eager to get organised and be on their way.

Duggie Eroro met with Drazen Gvozdich who I am sure will be referred to as the 'Rasta Man' which is a common phrase around here in PNG. In fact Duggie's own brother has a similar hairstyle.

Photographs were then taken under the archway and the guys seemed pretty excited!

It was soon time to get ready to move off from Owers' archway so the boys gathered round as Shane said a few words to his trekkers before moving off:

It was soon time to bid Trek 698 farewell as we watched them disappear down and around the first corner heading towards Goldie River.

Shane called in via sat phone and advised that they were at Efogi and were heading to Naduri to spend the night. He said they all continued to do well and were enjoying their trek.

Shane informed me they spent the night after Efogi at Templeton's and then were heading to Isurava for last night. So unless something has changed I expect them to walk off the track today!

All trekker's walked off the track today into Kokoda and are now at our Kokoda Retreat Orohaven!

Trekker's will be flying back to Port Moresby tomorrow morning from Popondetta.

Congratulations to all trekker's for successfully completing their trek. WELL DONE!
