Trekkers got away as planned on the 2nd July for their trek that commenced at Owers' Corner. All sounded very HAPPY and full of life as I talked with them. As they all knew each other, they appeared as though they would really have a great time out on the Kokoda Track. Their guide is John Derick Eroro who has walked so many times he has stopped counting. Trekkers include :

    • Shane Tucker
    • Barry Haynes
    • Mark and Anne Elliott
    • Barrie Blank and Jane Blank
    • Shane Ball
    • Michael Lange

The first night as planned they reached Ua'Ule Creek. Last night they were at Jap's Ladder and tonight have reached Agulogo which is near Menari. All trekkers are doing well and enjoying their trek it seems.

Trekkers have now reached the half way point of EFOGI. Everyone continues to do well. Tomorrow they will head to a place referred to as 'Dump 1'.

John Derick Eroro phoned in today saying they were on schedule to reach Dump 1 (known previously as Templeton's I). He said trekkers continued to do well.

Trekkers spent last night at Isurava and now congratulations are in order as they have walked off the track one day in advance of their scheduled date of the 9th.

At the present time they are relaxing at our base in Kokoda, Orohaven Kokoda Retreat.

Earlier today trekkers would have walked through the archway situated at the Kokoda Memorial Hospital which was erected by the Kokoda Memorial Foundation. No doubt when they reached this point they would have been so PROUD of themselves. Well done trek 717.

Picture them now relaxing at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat, no doubt enjoying a few beers by now as they celebrate their successful trek.
