MemberToday we met up with our latest group of trekkers namely three males and one female. One trekker arrived from Cairns and was met by us and two friends also on the same trek. The remaining trekkers flight was running late and arrived at 2:50pm instead of 13:10. Once we were all together, we drove off to the Bomana War Cemetery before heading up to Sogeri. Trekkers in this group include :
- Aaron Platz
- Paul Buise
- Brooke Myers
- Malcolm Ezzy

MemberThis morning trekkers were picked up around 6:15am and by 6:30am we were on the road to Owers' Corner. I took a photograph of the group before we left Sogeri Lodge where they spent the night in a bush setting:

MemberIt was not too long and we found ourselves at Owers' Corner. Brooke's first impression was the wish to get back in the car and drive back to Port Moresby! However, they all started getting ready for the walk on the track. Brooke met her personal porter Tarina Bore. Malcolm Ezzy met up with Rommy Awoka.

MemberIt was soon time for photographs to be taken under both sides of the archway. One side has the words, 'Kokoda Trail' and the other side 'Kokoda Track'.

MemberWallace called up from Maguli Range earlier today to say as planned they reached Ua'Ule Creek where they spent last night. Today they were heading for Naoro Village. He said all trekkers and porters were going great and that everyone was co-operating as a team.

MemberI received a satellite phone call this morning around 7am to say that they spent the night at Manari. Today the plan is to have another short day and walk down to Efogi the half way point where they will sleep tonight.
Wallace said everyone is doing just fine and send their love. He added that they are playing card games and having fun!

MemberCongratulations to Trek 781 as they have just walked off the track into our base 'Orohaven Kokoda Retreat' one day ahead of schedule. The original plan of spending the night at Hoi Village did not work out as when they reached there, it was full with another trekking company so a decision to push on was reached.
I just spoke to Brooke and she sounded SO HAPPY!!! She said they were tired but feeling OH SO GOOD!!!
Earlier this afternoon they would have walked through the archway in Kokoda and no doubt would have been pretty proud of themselves for achieving their goal of walking the Kokoda Track.
