On the 18th August, Amanda and Timothy Pilgrim flew into Popondetta from Port Moresby and were driven up to Kokoda where they overnighted at 'Orohaven Kokoda Retreat'.

Trekkers were up bright and early to commence their walk this morning. The guide for this trek is Tarina Bore who helped build our new bar area. Monty Eki is the personal porter for Amanda. Jimmy Ami is the porter for Timothy.

The food porters for this trek are: Freddy Yauga (also the musician); Jackson (Sairope); Lenny (Sairope). All these guys have been helping with the work at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat in readiness for the recent trip to Kokoda of Dame Carol Kidu and the grieving relatives of the people who died in the Airlines PNG plane crash last year.

We have not heard from them today but they should have reached Isurava Village where they are spending the night. Tomorrow they will walk into the Isurava Memorial area around 8am.

Trekkers continue to do well and last night were at Eora Creek. We have not heard from them today as they are down low but they informed us yesterday that they were heading for 1900/Myola Junction.

We heard from the track yesterday that the group passed by Efogi where they were going to overnight and moved on to Menari. They are doing just great and now want to come out a day early. The advice we got was that they will now be at Owers' Corner on Wednesday at 10am not Thursday as previously planned.

We heard from the track today when they were at Maguli Range to say they were on the move and that everything was still on target to get out on Wednesday instead of Thursday.

This afternoon we heard from their guide Tarina that they had reached Goodwater and would be on time as planned at 10am tomorrow morning to walk through the archway at Owers' Corner.

Update 25th August: Congratulations are in order for trek 634 as they walked off the track earlier today, one day ahead of schedule. On the way back into town they stopped off at Bomana War Cemetery before being dropped at Ela Beach.

We went out to meet up with them at Ela Beach Hotel restaurant area but somehow missed them. Amanda, if you are reading this, please give me a phone call. 3254423 or mobile 71184014
