MemberWe met with Greg & Jason Palmer at the Gateway Hotel around 6pm yesterday 3rd May and it was arranged a vehicle would pick them up this morning to take them to Owers' Corner along with their guide and porters.
All went ahead as planned today when Russell Eroro picked them up at 7am as can be seen in the photograph below:

MemberUpdate 6th May: Sorry I have not been able to report until now but Ernst said its been raining quite heavily and he has found it hard to get a signal out on the sat phone.
Apparently there is also LOTS OF MUD! However, they are making good progress as follows:

MemberJust now when I spoke to Ernst they had reached Menari village where they are spending tonight. All trekkers and porters are doing ok. Tomorrow the plan is to pass through Efogi and head down to Naduri for the night.
Will post further as soon as I hear from the track again.

MemberUpdate 7th May: Received a sat phone call from the track today but I could hardly hear Ernst. I asked if he could try a little later on but I guess it must be raining out there and he is finding it hard to get a signal out.
He did say however, that they were all ok and that everything is still going well.
I did not get to hear where they were, but they must be past the half way mark by now.

MemberUpdate 8th May: Heard from Ernst today saying they spent the night at 1900/Myola Junction. He said with the exception of yesterday, it rained every other day and the track is very muddy….now that just what our fast group of trekkers need to hear tonight at their briefing seeing as they have set themselves a 5 day, 4 night trek.
According to Ernst now they will be able to make better time without the MUD. I also spoke to the trekkers and they said to let ANGELA know…happy MOTHER'S DAY for tomorrow! and that they will be thinking of her all day.
Sounds like they are already thinking of you as they have posted this message one day in advance!
They are both having a great time whilst at the same time feeling the pain but loving it apparently from what I hear.

Hope the rain has held off we are in for some here tomorrow. I had a great Mothers day missed you both but got a big surprise with the present very sneaky.
Greg I hope you are putting your feet up at night and the legs and knees are holding out. You will have a few days rest before the half marathon on Sunday just thought I would remind you. Looking forward to seeing you both later in the week. I've sent Mark a card for tomorrow and will speak to him and send your love. Stay safe.

MemberUpdate 10th May: Trekkers reached Kokoda today – a day ahead of schedule. I spoke to Greg mid afternoon and he informed me they were ok and obviously pleased to have reached Kokoda.
They will now relax at Orohaven and will travel down by road to Popondetta tomorrow afternoon. They will overnight at Gona and will fly back to Port Moresby on the 12th.
