MemberThis afternoon we met at the international airport three trekkers who were rearing to go – no mucking around staying at hotels or in transit, two trekkers from America and one Aussie were already on the track by 3:30 having touched down at Jackson's airport around 12:30.
Trekkers are made up as follows for this trek:
Malwina Caban; Eric Brandt; and Dougall Bruce.
This also included a visit to Bomana War Cemetery as per the photograph below:

MemberA short time after leaving Bomana we stopped off at Rouna lookout where trekkers stretched their legs and had a walk around checking out the waterfall.

MemberAfter arriving at Owers' Corner it was time for the two trekkers from America to organise their gear into two of our backpacks and prepare for their trek. In the other traditional area, Dougall also got ready to move out. I snapped these photographs shortly before they all moved off.

MemberAs per the norm, trekkers posed for a group photograph with their porters under both sides of the archway at Owers's Corner before they headed off down their first hill.

MemberAll the boys were laughing at Owers' Corner amongst themselves…why? you may well ask??
The reason is that ALL THE TREKKERS BAGS WERE VERY LIGHT – well it is a 4 day trek after all and they obviously packed bearing this in mind
Food porters packs were also lighter then usual as they only have to carry a small amount of food before reaching Efogi.
The plan is for them to reach Nauro by tomorrow night. On the 18th they should be in Kokoda to overnight so they can fly back to Port Moresby on the 19th.
Their guide for this trek is Trevor Jinga from Kokoda with Johnsford Eroro his assistant.

MemberWe waved goodbye as they descended down the hill towards Goldie River.
Trevor has since phoned in to say they have stopped for the night at 'Goodwater'. Everyone is doing ok and enjoying themselves – well so far, tomorrow they have a big day!

Member15th November: We just heard from Trevor that they have now reached the village of Nauro where they will sleep tonight. Everyone is doing ok. Tomorrow they plan to push past Efogi and head to Naduri..well that is the current plan at this stage but it could change depending on how everyone is coping.

MemberHi,
Not sure if you can pass on messages to the trekkers, but if you can, can you please tell Dougall that we saw his pictures on the site and he's (and his porter are) looking good!
Good luck
Lots of love

Member18th November: Trekkers walked off the track as planned yesterday in Kokoda – what an effort – with only a couple of nights spent on the track.
Apparently they are happy, safe and well. I heard from our people on the ground in Kokoda that they were sitting around enjoying some food and talking to the two other American's about to head out on the track on the 19th.
They will fly back to Port Moresby on the normal RPT flight which should arrive around 11am 19th November.
At the moment they resting at our base – 'Orohaven Kokoda Retreat'
The photograph below was taken when I received a phone call from Malwina saying their flight to Alotau had left early and what could they do. I suggested they head out to Loloata for the night. Shortly after receiving the phone call, I met with them at the airport to drive them out to the jetty where the Loloata Dive Resort boat had agreed to pick them up. The following morning they were going to fly to Alotau on a 6am flight.
