    Hi guys

I'm very new to this sort of thing (first timer, actually) so if I am out of line being here please feel free to tell me to buzz off.

I stumbled across this site while looking for info on Bomana Cemetery for a friend who has an uncle buried there. We are coming to PNG in October on a cruise ship and will have only one day in port and want to know how to get to/from the cemetery and is it safe.

    Thanks
    Cate

Hi again, my email address comes from my other website on png

    http://www.pngbd.com

which stands for, Papua New Guinea Business Directory

If you search around in the forums of that website, you will find thousands of items on PNG. I let the media report all the horrible stories and this website was set up to promote rather then destroy the image of PNG.

On pngbd my pen name is aussie (yeah I know, how original) haha; on here its 'Boss Meri' as the word in pidgin for woman is 'Meri' and well I am the boss! Simply put its hard for the boys to say my name Gail as to them its disrespectful, so if they need to address me they say 'boss meri'.

Re cost: Depending on how long you wish to walk around at Bomana, the round trip will probably take about two hours by the time we drive out…look around…drive back and then of course another half an hour each way to get back to the wharf in Port Moresby.

Lets say $100 which will cover the vehicle, our time etc. If this is ok, just pay in cash on the day. If I am not too busy on the day I will personally come and pick you up. How many will there be?

If you meet others on the ship who also want to do the same thing, then we have a truck which carries 20 + depending on the size of the people but the price would differ if a group booking but with everyone contributing would be affordable if the cost was shared amongst everyone.

Thankyou so much for all your help "Boss Meri". At this stage there are four of us travelling together but maybe only the boys would be going to the cemetery – not sure at this stage. Is the $100 all up or each person?

We were just going to go on a shore excursion but don't know how long they would spend at the cemetery. Geoff has an uncle buried there and there are a number of other graves there belonging to men from our little town so we would need a bit of time there ( the excursion is 4 hours all up and looks at quite a few other things). I will talk to the others and see what they think but I am very grateful for your input.
