    Hi,

    I'm female and will be 20 when I do the trek. My mum is worried about me arriving at Port Moresby airport by myself. All I plan on doing in PM is arriving at the airport, going straight to the Gateway Hotel on their shuttle bus and then back to the airport to leave for Kokoda. Can anyone tell me if I should have any concerns in doing this alone? Is the airport relatively safe and easy to navigate? Do people speak good English? Is the Gateway shuttle bus reliable?

    Hi Kerryn

    We stayed at the Gateway Hotel and found their shuttle bus totally reliable. In fact, when we ran out of Kina, the only ATM was at the airport. The hotel bus took my daughter (32) to the airport, waited while she went to the ATM, and brought her safely back. I had no concerns about her at all.

    The airport is pretty easy to navigate, most people speak English and are very helpful.

    Mums always worry, it's what we do best. But I have to say I never at any time felt unsafe when I was there.
