MemberTrek 469 two uni students left early this morning for Owers' Corner around 5am. Mid afternoon yesterday they were both driven out to Bomana War Cemetery so were keen to get going this morning. We also had another big drop off today so decided we would take them out early so we could then concentrate on a large group heading out around 10am.
All went according to plan and they were soon heading down their first hill around 9am.
Trekkers are:
Scott Murray and Aaran Dobrich both from Perth.

MemberWe have just heard from David Clark the guide in the other trek that they had reached Imita Ridge and no sign of Cyprian's trek so can only assume they are already ahead and relaxing at Ua'Ule Creek campsite knowing full well the others would be playing catch up later today.

MemberUpdate 8:30am 6th July: Trekkers were up bright and early to head off. At the time Cyprian radioed in they had already reached Ioribaiwa Village and were heading off towards Nauro. Depending on how they felt they may stay there tonight or move on down to Agulogo and sleep next to the creek.
Cyprian confirmed they spent last night at Ua'Ule Creek campsite along with our other trek of army cadets, trek 488.

MemberUpdate 6th July 1pm: Cyprian just phoned in to say they were having a break after climbing up to Maguli Range/Japs Ladder area. Later today they will walk into Nauro Village where they have decided to stay the night.

Pic 3 & 4: Nauro Campsite area where you walk down to the creek to take a wash. Quite steep and hard to imagine doing this everyday like the people who live there and the children and women who work the gardens on the opposite side to the creek. What are they carrying on their heads you may ask….water to cook with is the answer!

MemberUpdate 8th July:Both trekkers have made it to Efogi where they are spending the night however one trekker Aaran Dobrich has decided to call it quits due to knee problems.
He will be airlifted off the track tomorrow by chopper which should be an experience in itself.
Scott and their porters will continue to walk the rest of the way no doubt joining with trek 488 the army cadet group heading in the same direction.

MemberUpdate 10th July: Cyprian is now left with a lone trekker as Aaran Dobrich was helicopted out of Efogi with crook knees. He is now relaxing at Loloata until his mate arrives back in off the track.
I did not hear from Cyprian yesterday but know he is heading in the same direction at the same time as trek 488 who are heading for Isurava Village and will walk out in Kokoda sometime tomorrow.
From all accounts Scott is doing ok and will finish his trek.
